Speculations had it to be called the successor of the Redmi Note 8 but i myself refused to digest the claim, you know why? The Redmi Note 8T doesn’t differ much from the Redmi Note 8.
It seems Xiaomi produced the Redmi Note 8 and forgot to add NFC support and 18W charger. So since it’s too late to equip it with Note 8, they decided to manufacture another smartphone and equip it with those features.
To differentiate it, they added a “T” suffix to it’s moniker and that is the Redmi Note 8T.
So, what am i actually saying? Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T doesn’t differ much from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, the only difference is that it came with NFC support and 18W fast charger in the box.
You guys have probably known that the Note 8 came with 10W charger out of the box but this new Note 8T came with 18W fast charger in the box, just like their elder brother the Note 8 Pro.

Design and Display
Looking at the design, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T looks really identical to the Redmi Note 8, placing them side by side, you can’t tell which one is which, Xiaomi didn’t touch it’s design, they just leave it to look like the Note 8.
The front and back of this device is made from glass, for your safety and to also prevent it from unknown hand falls, Xiaomi covered it with a gorilla glass 5. It seems every Redmi series line up don’t skip this, they all have gorilla protection.
It comes in three colours which are Stellar blue, Moon white and Midnight gray.
The smartphone has a dimensions of 161.1 x 75.4 x 8.6 mm and weighs around 200 grams which might be a little heavy for some. It has a dual nano sims and of course, the SIM slot placement is same as the Note 8.
On the front, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T features a 6.3inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with up to 16 million colors. It has a resolution of 1080 by 2340 Pixels and 19:5:9 aspect ratio.
We are currently in an era of big screen phones and this one isn’t an exception, the 6.3inch screen makes its easier to consume media content and thanks to the 409 pixel per inch (PPI), colours will be represented well and vibrant.
There isn’t much of a chin, the chin is small as well as the bezels and this makes it to have 80.2% screen to body ratio. The display is also protected against unknown drops with a gorilla glass 5.
Hardware and software
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T features the same chip present on the Note 8, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC which runs on Android 9 pie with Xiaomi MIUI 10 on top.
The Chip is an Octa core processor which is clocked at 2.0GHz paired with a 32GB 3GB RAM or 64GB 4GB RAM or 128GB 4GB RAM, Xiaomi provided a MicroSD card slot where you can further expand the storage up to 256GB.
With all this Hardware and Software features, i can say that this device will perform well in every aspect, even on Gaming, thanks to the Adreno 610 GPU that it comes with.
Camera and Battery
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T comes with a quad camera setup on the back and a single camera up front which is comfortably sitting on the waterdrop notch cut-out.
Cameras on the rear includes a 48MP main sensor with an aperture of f/1.8, 8MP ultra wide lens with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP dedicated macro lens with f/2.4 and a 2MP depth sensor with a f/2.4 aperture.
Flipping the device to showcase the front view, you will see a waterdrop notch cut-out which houses a 13MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera doesn’t have a flash but it makes use of a screen flash.
What screen flash basically does is that when you wanted to take a selfie at night or in dark areas, the screen turns bright white. But the rear camera has flash.
In terms of camera features, the rear camera has HDR, Panorama e.t.c, the front camera features also HDR and Panorama. The rear camera can shoot 2160p video at 30fps, 1080p videos at 30/60 and 120fps, it also has electronic image stabilization (EIS) so when shooting videos, you won’t bother of a shaky footage.
The front camera can only shoot 1080p videos at 30 FPS. What fuels this device and also gives it energy to carry out task is a 4000mAh battery and you can charge it up quickly since it supports 18W fast charging. It can take about 2hours to charge from 0 to 100%.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T specs revealed that it has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, infrared port, Radio and Bluetooth 4.2.
