Looking at the design of this device, like i said earlier, you can see that it’s a clone of the Redmi K30. The smartphone takes every design of the Redmi K30. If you look at the rear of the device, you can see that the camera bump is positioned vertically inside the circle shiny design.
Beneath the camera lens is a dual led flash to support your photography game in low lightening conditions. There is a Poco branding at the bottom half corner of the device and taking a look at the right side of the smartphone, you get volume rockers and the fingerprint scanner.
The Fingerprint scanner also doubles up as a power button. At the left side, you get a hybrid SIM slot for one SIM and an SD card or a dual nano SIM without an SD card. Looking at the top, there is a microphone port and an IR blaster for controlling your appliances.
At the button, you get the speaker grille, microphone port, a USB Type-C and a head jack port. The smartphone weighs about 208grams and it has a glass back and an aluminium frame. Gorilla glass 5 is present on the display and also present at the back. It has a dimension of 165.3 x 76.6 x 8.8 mm.
Taking a look at the display, the Poco X2 features a 6.67inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080p by 2400 pixels. There is a ppi of 386 and 88.8% screen to body ratio. The device uses an IPS LCD screen with up to 16M colours and 20:9 aspect ratio.
Poco X2 has a punch hole cutout at the front, the punch hole display houses two cameras which includes a 20-mega pixel camera and a 2-mega pixel camera. It has a very tiny chin and bezels, that made it to have a screen to body ratio of 88.8%. The punch hole that houses the two cameras is positioned at the top right corner of the display.
Display on this device refreshes at 120Hz, yea, it has 120Hz refresh rate. Even using the phone under sunlight won’t be hard as it has a high brightness up to 500nits. The display is now protected by a corning gorilla glass 5 to help protect the display against accidental drops.
Hardware & Software
The Poco X2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G chipset and it is the same chipset that is present on the Redmi K30. It is an Octa core chipset with a speed of up to 2.2GHz. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 10 operating system which is based on MIUI 11.
For graphics or gaming, there is an Adreno 618 GPU responsible for it. This smartphone comes in three configurations; one comes with a 64GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM, the other comes with a 128GB of internal storage and 6GB of RAM while the last configurations comes with a 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM.
If we should compare it with the Redmi K30, it has same configurations but only difference is that the K30 8GB of RAM version supports 128GB internal storage. From what we are seeing here, it seems like the Poco X2 is a rebranded Redmi K30.
Coming on to the photography aspect, the smartphone comes with a quad camera setup at the rear which includes a 64MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultra wide with f/2.2 aperture, 2MP dedicated macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
On the front, it has a dual camera setup which includes a 20MP main camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The camera at the rear is supported by a dual led flash for low light photography. It shoots videos in 4k at 30fps, 1080p at 30fps and a 720p at 960fps.
The front camera however, only takes 1080p videos at 30fps. It is only the rear camera that supports EIS, which means “Electronic image stabilization”. On the case of the K30, it has same quad rear cameras and even same camera features.
What is keeping the light on in the Poco X2, making all the specs to function properly is a bigger 4,500mAh battery and you can juice it up fast as it supports 27W flash charging. Poco claimed that it can juice up the device from 0 to 100% in 68mins.
This is really a rebranded K30, it still has a 4500mAh battery as the K30 and even supports 27W flash charging as the K30. Connectivity options includes Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Infrared and Radio. There are three colour options to choose from which are Atlantis Blue, Matrix Purple abd Phoenix Red.
Poco X2 Price in Nigeria & Availability
The Poco X2 price in Nigeria starts from N80,300 which translates to $220 USD and it’s Availablity in Nigeria is not yet confirmed but we guess it might be available soon.
Note: This price listed here is what the smartphone is priced abroad and not in Nigeria. It might be priced at this amount if it arrives in Nigeria but there is a huge possibility that the price will change if it arrives in Nigeria. Just take this price as a pinch of salt for now.
Thoughts on Poco X2
This is a very decent smartphone to get if you can afford it. This is same as the Redmi K30, it has every aspect of the K30 specificications. The K30 was launched in China last year in December.
Quad camera setup on the phone, plus the 4,500mAh super fast charging, plus a huge 6.67inch display makes it very easy for me to recommend this smartphone. But it would have been nice though if Poco implented an AMOLED screen on this guy.
