The Infinix S5 is the successor of Infinix S4 which was released earlier this year, it comes with a lot of upgrade from the S4.
The Infinix Hot S5 now uses a punch hole display unlike its predecessor that utilises a waterdrop notch design.
There is a quad camera setup at the rear of the Infinix S5 which was aligned vertically with a quad LED flash as well.
So in this post i am going to share my experience using the Infinix S5, what i think about it and what i have discovered, in a short word, the Infinix S5 review.

Design and Display Review
The Infinix S5 body and frame is made from a premium plastic, it does feel solid and sturdy in the hand.
It is a plastic material so it doesn’t attract any form of fingerprint stains, it comes with a nifty camera setup along with a quad LED light just beside the camera.
If you look closely at the body of the Infinix Hot S5, you will notice some patterns which makes it grippable and prevents accidental drops especially from people who has sweaty palms.
Underneath the device is where you see the S sign which has an inscription underneath it that reads thus designed by Infinix.
The Infinix S5 has a dimension of 164 x 76 x 7.9 mm which makes it a tall device and sturdy in the hand.
I think what makes it tall is because of that huge 6.6inches display that it has, it is light weight, it weighs around 178 grams which in my own opinion, not heavy at all considering the large 4000mah battery that it has.
It comes only in two colours which includes Quetzal Cyan and Violet, overall the design aesthetic is quite beautiful and attractive considering the price tag.
Taking a look at the display, the Infinix Hot S5 spot an IPS LCD display which has a size of 6.6inches with 84.4% screen to body ratio.
It has a resolution of 1600 by 720p with 20:9 aspect ratio and a ppi of 266.
The Infinix S5 display is vibrant and pop nice colors, though it is a 720p display but it still gives you an awesome viewing experience, viewing angle are very okay.
The only draw back is that you are limited to 720p when streaming videos online or on YouTube but it is still good because it will keep your data consumption at minimum, overall the display is very okay.
Hardware and software review
The only section people pays attention to very well in a review is how the device performs and of course this Infinix S5 review wouldn’t be an exemption.
The Infinix Hot S5 is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 with 14 nano meter and an Octa core cpu which has a speed of 2.0ghz cortex-A53.
It has a PowerVR GE8320 GPU and runs on Android 9.0 pie. The Infinix Hot S5 has 64gb internal storage and 4gb RAM.
As far as how it performs, it performs well and you have to keep in mind that this is a midrange smartphone and thus don’t expect the device to run like a light.
It does runs smoothly when you do basics tasks with it such as watching videos on YouTube, playing basic games, chatting on social media and pretty much every other basic tasks.
I experience some lags when i went heavy with much chrome tabs and have lots of apps running on the memory but looking at the price, it is very OK.
If you are a heavy gamer that plays pub g or asphalt 9, I’m sorry to say this, this device is going to disappoint you.
So i advice you to get a smartphone of $220 and above but if you just want to browse the web, navigate to one social media and other basic tasks or play some light games, this device will do the job very well.
Camera and battery review
This Infinix S5 review wouldn’t be complete without giving the camera and battery review.
This device camera is really awesome, not the best camera out there but for a midrange phone, the camera is mind blowing.
It has a 32mp front camera with flash and a quad rear cameras which consists of a 16mp camera, 5mp camera, 2mp camera and a 0.3mp camera, probably a QVGA camera with a quad flash.
It has an auto focus feature which automatically detects an object you want to capture and focus on it which blurs out the background.
It shoots videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second, the led flash on this device is amazing, i was able to capture clear picture at night using this device. High dynamic range is on point and overall camera quality is pretty dam good.
Battery wise, this device spot a huge 4000mAh battery with an AI Power Management which Infinix claims that it will provide 32 hrs Music Playback (Speakers), 111hrs of Music via Headset, 14.7 hrs Video Playback, 13.4 hrs Web Surfing, 11 hrs Gaming, 18.8 hours 4G talk-time and 31 days Standby time.
Well during my time with with, it is really nearly as advertised but putting it into percentage, i just got 70% of what they advertised to be real.
Network and sensors review
Adding to the Infinix S5 review, this device comes with a 3g connectivity and as well as 4G LTE.
It surfs the internet fast and one thing i love is the download speed using opera mini that come pre-installed on this device.
Downloading with operamini is super doper fast, i was able to download 1hour 30 minutes video in just 7 minutes which is not bad considering the category this device is resting on.
It has a fingerprint sensor which is located at the rear of the device, the fingerprint sensor is very fast, just place your finger on the sensor and boom, your device is unlocked.
Infinix S5 review verdict
So that’s pretty much of the Infinix S5 review, here is my verdict.
If you need a phone which can browse the internet very fast, watch videos on YouTube without buffering, check social media update, good battery capacity and a very decent camera, look no further than the Infinix Hot S5.
But if you need a phone which can play heavy 3D games and can do fast multi tasking, i advice you to look else where.
But what if you are using the Infinix S4? will you upgrade? well if i should tell you the truth, stick with what you have because the upgrade is not that much.
They only differs in the display and camera. The Infinix Hot S4 has a 6.2 inches waterdrop notch display while the Infinix S5 has a 6.6inch punch hole display.
The Infinix Hot S4 comes with a triple cameras at the rear while the Infinix Hot S5 comes with a quad rear cameras.
The Infinix Hot S5 comes with an AI power management while the Infinix S4 doesn’t come with it.
So you see? the difference is not that much but it is left for you to decide anyways. Gamers will love the Hot S5 because of that huge 6.6inches real estate.
