Design & Display
The Nova 7i is a premium looking smartphone, especially with that camera structure that looks like the one on the iPhone 11 series. It’s back and frame are made from plastic. The smartphone is light weight, it weighs about 183 grams.
Looking at the rear of the device, you can see that it is indeed a rebranded Nova 6 SE, everything looks same. The camera structure looks quite attractive and it has a single led flash underneath it. There is a Huawei inscription at the button half of the phone.
The back looks quite reflective and there is four colour options to choose from which includes Black, Emerald Green, Light Pink and Light Blue. The dimension of the phone which is about 159.2 x 76.3 x 8.7 mm makes it easy to hold and will also fit quite comfortably in your pocket.
At the right side of the phone, you get a volume rockers and a side mounted fingerprint reader. The fingerprint reader also doubles up as a power button. The left side houses a hybrid SIM slots for a single nano SIM and an SD card or a dual Nano SIMS without an SD card. Ofcourse, that’s what a hybrid SIM is all about.
Taking a look at the front, you are greeted with that nice punch hole display, which is a home for the selfie camera. The bezels on this phone are quite slim and the display blends in well with the frame. It measures a 6.4inch with a Full HD+ resolution.
That is a 1080 by 2310 pixels. It has a ppi of 398 which means color reproduction on the screen will be quite impressive. The slimness of the chin and bezels made it to achieve an aspect ratio of 83.5%. The display uses an LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with up to 16M colors.
There is no gorilla glass protection on this phone, so it is advisable to handle it with care or better still get a screen guard from this reliable retail store online at a cheap rate, click here to get it. Let’s move on to the hardware and software aspect of the phone.
Hardware & Software
When it comes to the hardware and software, the Huawei Nova 7i features an Octa core Hisilicon Kirin 810 chipset, which has a speed of 2.27GHz. It runs on the latest Google’s operating system which is Android 10 and it is based on the latest EMUI 10.
For graphics or gaming, there is a Mali-G52 MP6 responsible for it. You get a whopping 8GB of RAM and a huge 128GB of internal storage. With this huge storage capacity, one can’t expect to extend it but Huawei did. You can still expand the storage up to 256GB.
Camera & Battery
In terms of camera, this smartphone comes with a quad rear camera setup which includes a 48MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultra wide camera with f/2.4 aperture, 2MP dedicated macro camera with f/2.4 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
Taking a look at the front, there is a 16MP camera for selfies or video calls with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera shoots 4k videos at 30fps as well as 1080p videos at 30fps. The selfie camera however shoots only 1080p videos at 30fps.
There is a single led flash at the rear to support your night photography but the front camera doesn’t come with an led flash, rather it makes us of the screen flash. That is, the screen turns bright white and then capture. I don’t think this is a deal breaker nowadays.
Battery wise, you get a slightly bigger 4200mAh battery capacity on this phone and you can top it up quickly since it supports a whopping 40W fast charging. Huawei claimed that this 40W charger can take this guy from zero to 70% under 30mintues, quite impressive.
Connectivity options includes Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0»Type-C 1.0 reversible connector, Wi-Fi 802.11 and a 4G LTE. It also has a loudspeaker and a 3.5mm head jack at the bottom left corner of the smartphone.

The Huawei Nova 7i price in Nigeria starts from N115,000 which converts to $320 and it’s Availablity in Nigeria is not yet confirmed but we guess it might be available soon.
Note: This price listed here is what the smartphone is priced abroad and not in Nigeria. It might be priced at this amount if it arrives in Nigeria but there is a huge possibility that the price will change if it arrives in Nigeria. Just take this price as a pinch of salt for now.
Thoughts on Huawei Nova 7i
Well, this smartphone is priced at 320 USD which is not bad in anyway considering it’s impressive specificications. The Nova 7i is a good phone to get, it has a quad camera set-up at the rear featuring all the sensors we have in a smartphone.
Another thing i like is the 40W fast charging that will be topping a big 4200mAh battery. Like i said above, it can take this guy from 0% to 70% under 30mins which is quite impressive. Also, the 4200mAh battery on this phone is sure to last at least a full day.
The processing power on this phone is fast. It’s a whopping 7nm Hisilicon Kirin 810 chip paired with a huge 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. All in all, i will rate this device 90% out of 100. Over to you, what do you think about the Nova 7i? Let me know in the comments.
